This Delta Universal Plate Lifting Clamp Features
The Delta Universal plate lifting clamp has some great features to enable the easy handling of sheet materials.
The lifting eye on the Delta plate clamp incorporates a hinge. It is this hinged feature which enables lifting in different orientations. Whilst also being able to lift vertically and lay down horizontally, or the other way around.
The hinge pivots through 180 degrees to enable angled lifting. However when you are lifting at an angle there will need to be a reduction in the working load limit. For example if you are lifting at angles between 22 and 45 degrees the WLL should be reduced to 75%. This is of the maximum stated safe working load. Thus a 2000kg clamp used at 40 degrees should be reduced to 1500kg. See the specifications for more details.
Lifting Clamp Weight Requirements
This universal plate lifting clamp incorporates hardened steel jaws ideally for use with sheet materials with a surface hardness up to HRC 37. There is always a minimum load weight required for these plate clamps in order to ensure they clamp correctly and securely. At this hardness the minimum load weight should be 10% of the stated WLL. If your plate has a hardness of HRC 27 or lower it can be reduced to 5%.
Minimum weights are required for a plate clamp due to the progressive clamping nature of the device. The more weight loaded the more forces are transferred to the jaw, pulling it tighter. When the load is fully lifted off the ground the jaws will be clamped down at their hardest to ensure the load remains secure until it is set down again and the forces are released.
The jaws can be locked into an open or closed setting with the incorporated lever lock for easier loading and better storage.
Complying with the machinery directive 2006/42/EC, supplied with certification of testing and conformity you are assured you will be getting a quality lifting clamp at great low prices when purchased from Lifting Hoists Direct.
