Green Pin D Shackles for Lifting Tasks
Typically used in general industrial lifting tasks these green pin lifting shackles are also used in mining, shipping, renewable energies and many more areas.
They are made from high tensile grade six steel and have under gone quenching and tempering before being hot dip galvanized for the finish. These high quality shackles boast a 6:1 safety factor. So although you should never exceed the stated WLL these d shackles will not break unless overloaded by 6 times the stated WLL, that’s pretty impressive!
Another important feature is the temperature range in which they can be used safely and without risk. Down to minus 40 at the lower end and plus 200 degrees centigrade at the upper end.
Green Pin D Shackle Varieties
There are two different types of green pin d shackles, a standard screw pin or a safety bolt.
A standard screw pin type is perfect for quick connections when a non-permanent option is required. They can be quickly removed for use elsewhere but you should be aware that the screw pin will need frequent checks to ensure it is tightly screwed in place.
The safety bolt variety gives you a semi-permanent connection. This is due to the pin incorporating a nut which is extra secured with a cotter pin. This will not come loose providing the cotter pin is in place and so will need less frequent checks. This one works best when multiple lifting tasks are carried out with the same set up.
Green Pin Dee Shackle Lifting Capacities
The range of safe working load limit lifting capacities available for green pin dee shackles is quite large and will vary depending on your choice of securing pin type.
The lower capacity option for a standard screw pin shackle is 0.5 tonne. Then there are various increments until you get to the largest lifting capacity of 55 tonnes.
Green pin shackles with a safety bolt have a higher top end capacity at 85 tonnes.
Obviously the larger the working load limit, the larger the physical size will be. The smallest will fit into the palm of your hand but the largest will probably need two hands to lift it.
There are multiple areas on a shackle with differing sizes and you should take careful note to ensure the size will suit your needs. In the specifications tab above you will find all the dimensions you are likely to need including bow, pin and eye diameter as well as outer and inner widths and lengths. The pin dimensions are also included in the tables.
