About the Arctic Lever Hoist
There are many parts of the world that often have sub-zero temperatures that can be quite extreme. Sweden, Greenland, Canada, Iceland and more all experience temperatures below -10.
There are many industries and utilities that work in these areas and will regularly need to use lifting and hoisting equipment. Pipeline construction, oil and gas exploitation, construction, wind energy, commercial fishing, maintenance, assembly work and other utilities are all typical areas.
Typical / standard lifting hoists can only be used at -10C, occasionally you will find a hoist that can cope with -20C but below this its a very specialised area due to the fact that extreme sub-zero temperatures on steel and other metals can change their behaviour. Some metals become brittle, some are more sensitive to shocks, deformation can also occur. The type of lubricants used can also affect the hoist in these conditions.
Yale has successfully expanded this range to a seriously low -40C with the specially designed Arctic edition of the already successful UNOplus A series lever hoist.
The Yale UNOplus Arctic Edition Lever Hoist
With all the benefits and specifications off the standard UNOplus A series but with modifications to components and lubricants to ensure safety at -40 degrees. Materials used have been tested in highly complex low temperature testing processes.
Alongside its Arctic edition chain block cousin the arctic lever hoist has been extensively tested to include endurance tests, static and dynamic testing, load testing, functionality tests and breakage and impact testing. These hoists can be stored and used safely with all components working correctly in these extreme temperatures and come fully certified.
We also have an arctic chain block in our utility hoist category with the model being based on the Yalelift 360 model.
