Yale Batterystar Hoist Benefits
There are numerous benefits to using the Yale Batterystar hoist which is a durable and reliable lifting hoist. Quite obviously the biggest benefit is that no wiring and power outlet is needed, simply drop in your battery and you are good to go. Portability is another great feature as the Battery star hoist weight just 19.8kg with 6 metres of chain (not inc. battery). It is quite compact so able to be carried by one person, however we can supply a wheelable trolley type carry case which is great for storing your hoist and battery equipment as well as transporting it more easily.
Precision lifting and load positioning is easy with the Batterystar thanks to precise controls. On the remote control unit there are warning indicators that tell you low battery, over capacity, over temperature warning and inspection due reminder. Inspection timelines should be carried out as per standard electric hoists, annually in normal operating conditions.
True variable speeds are obtained by the controlled press of the remote buttons – the harder/further you push the faster you go.
The brake system has a patent pending, its a mechanical system which auto-activates when lowering loads. There are also inspection windows on the top and bottom of the hoist to enable regular and quick brake inspections. This makes it easy to see when the brakes are wearing, thus you can change them and potentially prevent failure.

Anyway Up Battery Hoist Operation
The Yale Batterystar hoist is extremely versatile, this is largely down to the fact that it can be used in different ways, not just for your typical standard straight lift. The battery powered hoist can be used in an inverted position therefore the hoist can be used as standard or as a climbing hoist. A big benefit to using the hoist in an inverted set up is that you don’t need to physically lift the hoist body up to its suspension point. Simply suspend the hoist using the load hook and let the hoist body climb with the load.
Integrated limit switches will prevent over winding the chain both top and bottom.
About the Batterystar Hoist Battery
The battery used by the Batterystar hoist is a 12Ah M18 Red lithium battery from Milwaukee. Using these batteries means that they can be used and interchanged with over 250 Milwaukee tools.
So are these batteries powerful? Yes they are, ok they may not quite be on the same par as a plug in electric hoist but they offer more speed and efficiency than a manual hoist.
With a 1000kg safe working load and lifting speeds to 2.4 metres per minute, operator efficiency can increase up to 4x as much as when using a manual chain block.
How long a single battery charge will last will depend on the weight of the load and the hook travel distance. Smaller loads use less power thus the battery will last longer. This chart gives you an idea!
Additionally there is a battery low warning light on the wireless remote control which will slowly flash red when the battery reaches 25% residual charge.
Should the battery deplete during use you can simply change the battery – its always good to keep a spare! However there is another option you can use if you need to lower the load quickly; open the battery compartment and use a power drill to lower the load. If you need optimum power and unlimited travel time then you may be better considering an electric hoist.
Yale Batterystar Kits and accessories
If you already have Milwaukee tools and batteries then you will probably only need the hoist and remote control – Kit 1 the other kits contain different options from battery, battery and charger, travel trolley case and more. See the options in the chart below.
