About the ROV controlled Chain Block
This specialised quad pawl chain block set up is designed to be controlled by a ROV (remotely operated vehicle) in subsea environments. The hoist itself has the same specifications as the stand alone SSC4 subsea chain block, however a specially designed framework has been added to enable ROV control. There are 2 versions available; the standard one is manually operated and has a smaller framework. The more advanced version is hydraulically operated and has a larger framework.
The Manual ROV Chain Block SSC4
The manual version can be used with a range of ROV interface tools including the D handle, fishtail, T-bar and torque bucket giving a flexible choice of operator friendly interfaces for the ROV pilot to use.
This set up has a slimmer framework than the hydraulic version.
The Hydraulic ROV Chain Block SSC4
With a bigger framework to house the hydraulic elements this version has a quick disconnect coupling and is typically used with a hot stab tool. With quick and compact hydraulic connections this SSC4 hydraulic ROV chain block set up can be efficiently controlled with a ROV vehicle, deck HPU or subsea manifold.
Additional Information on the SSC4 Subsea chain block with ROV controls
Both manual and hydraulic chain blocks have the quad pawl technology for optimum safety and precision control. They can be used in cross fleeting scenarios up to 60 degrees from vertical without loosing any capacity.
These ROV operated chain blocks can be fitted with a hand wheel which facilitates manual adjustment to the load chain when topside.
Other optional bespoke fittings including ROV shank hooks, shackles and sling hooks may be used and available on special request.
Made and tested in the UK and conforming to a wide range of international standards including British, American, Australian, South African and NORSOK.
