About the SSL5 Subsea Ratchet Hoist
Ideal for subsea and topside use as well as water utilities and other marine industries.
Just like many other William Hackett hoisting systems the subsea SSL5 lever hoist uses a quad pawl system. This innovative system means that all 4 pawls can engage with the gear wheel thanks to the off set design.
The quad pawls provide a much finer tolerance adjustment and optimum safety against failure. The system has been tested for endurance to 2x the industry norm.
When it comes to its lifespan, whilst it may not be as good as other ratchet hoists used in normal conditions, given the water immersion scenario its pretty good.
Flushing the hoist out with fresh water (not pressurised) after each use is essential and will help to prolong its life.
After each immersion period the hoist will require full strip down for thorough inspection and testing by an authorised agent before re-use. Full usage, servicing and inspection logs must be kept.
A triple layer of marine grade paint suitable for category 5 environments has a 7-15 year life span and is applied to the SSL5 subsea ratchet hoist. All fixings are stainless steel and internal components have enhanced corrosion protection.
